Juvenile Justice Leadership Cohort
As part of the Thriving Prophetically focus of the grant, the Juvenile Justice Leadership Cohort (JJLC) seeks to serve youth pastors and other leaders working with youth and young adults who are involved in the criminal justice system. As part of the Prophetic Academy, the JJLC will provide a place for supportive relationships through cohort development, creative resourcing and shared experiences that enable even the most experienced youth worker to grow in their ministry. The goal of the Juvenile Justice Leadership cohort is to create a community of support with peers offering encouragement, resources and rest.
What is the JJL Cohort?
The Juvenile Justice Leadership Cohort will create spaces where youth workers in ministry will come together regularly to form strong, supportive relationships with others who engage in juvenile justice work while also receiving additional training, resources, and encouragement. Cohorts will consist of 10-12 participants from across the country. Our mission is to assist and strengthen juvenile justice workers while supporting their prophetic call to continue to create the change that reflects the Gospel.
Who Can Apply?
This opportunity is specifically for leaders who are currently doing ministry with young people in the criminal justice system (currently incarcerated, probation, parole, awaiting trial). Candidates must have 2+ years of experience and have direct contact with youth. We are seeking candidates who are youth pastors, senior pastors, volunteers, detention center staff, chaplains, mentors – anyone who works directly with young people in the system.
What is the Commitment?
Each cohort is a 12-month faith-based program. Participants will gather once for a 5-day retreat located on North Park’s campus in Chicago. Each participant will also commit to a monthly group online conference meeting and four (4) online training sessions throughout the 12 months.
The 1st cohort will run from Feb 1, 2019 – Jan 31, 2020.
